Darb 1718 Kasr El Sham3 Street, Al Fakhareen, Old Cairo, near Mar Girgis Metro Station, Tel 2361 0511 "Cairo/New York/Venice", an exhibition by Aissa Deebi, curated by Amr Assaad and Nada Shalabi. The exhibition will present recent and new work by Aissa Deebi including “The Trial” (2013) which was exhibited at the 55th Venice Biennale. Conceived in Cairo, the two-channel video installation consists of a reenactment in English of a speech by Daoud Turki at the Haifa courthouse in 1973 as a defendant during a military trial. The installation and related new work navigates complex political terrain and resonates deeply with the continued struggle for freedom in the region (4 April-30 May).
