ª The Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo organised a one-day seminar titled “A tribute to Iqbal” at the Cairo Opera House to mark the 136th anniversary of the great philosopher, scholar, thinker, and poet Allama Mohamed Iqbal. To pay homage to the Poet of the East, renowned Egyptian intellectuals including poet Farouk Shousha, professor Afaf Al-Saayeda Zaidan, professor Mohamed Sayed Gamaleddin and professor Ibrahim Mohamed Ibrahim delivered talks on the philosophy, thoughts and poetry of Iqbal. Ambassador of Afghanistan Fazl u Rehman Fazli paid tribute to Iqbal in Persian. Present were First Undersecretary of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture Camilia Sobhi and Director-General of the Foreign Cultural Relations Amir Nabi. Ambassador of Pakistan Manzoor ul-Haq said that both Egypt and Pakistan would work closely to further promote joint cultural activities.
