Duroubgalleryin Garden City is currently hosting the “Small Art Works” group exhibition that features 60 artists from different generations representing a variety of art movements. Veteran artist Weigh Yassa inaugurated the exhibition. The exhibition comprises the different fields of art such as painting, drawing, sculpture, graphic, ceramic and jewellery. It is the gallery's annual exhibition and this year it honours Yassa. Yassa is a naïve and spontaneous artist who studied English literature at Cairo University but his talent helped him to continue in creativity for a long time. Art critics classified him as one of the most successful abstract expressionists. Colour is the undisputed hero in his paintings where his palette of colours is very rich reflecting the depth of the artist's expressionism. He brilliantly echoes his surrounding environment and nature in a highly stylized fashion. He painted several portraits for famous figures in different art media. He owns a private gallery in Toronto, Canada. He is a member in the Canadian Portraits' Society. He has worked as an illustrator for Rose Al Youssef and Sabah Al Kheir magazines for many years and created several covers for Naguib Mahfouz novels. The exhibition is running through 7 January.
