Preview: Wounded Ahly eye redemption in Egyptian league
Ahly will be looking to get over their African Champions League elimination when they play ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday
Published in Ahram Online on 01 - 04 - 2014

Wounded Ahly will be desperate to avoid more slip-ups when they face ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday, having suffered a shock Champions League elimination at the hands of Libya's Ahly Benghazi.
The Red Devils, winners of the past two Champions League editions, slumped to a 3-2 loss at home to Benghazi to bow out with a 4-2 aggregate defeat which raised further speculation over the future of coach Mohamed Youssef.
Ahly's Champions League debacle was not down to an off-day, with the team already struggling on all fronts this term.
Their recent Premier League results are poor by the standards of a side that is seeking to win an eighth consecutive title.
They lost four times in 11 Group A matches, which included two defeats against modest side Dakhleya, whose only victories this season came at the expense of the illustrious Cairo outfit.
Although they lie fourth in the table with 19 points, three behind second-placed Ittihad of Alexandria and seven adrift of leaders Smouha, they will move second if they win their two matches in hand.
They must quickly pick themselves up and overcome eighth-placed ENPPI, who are also seeking to snap an eight-match winless run.
Defensive midfielder Hossam Ashour, who produced some below-par displays recently, veteran left-back Sayed Moawad and out-of-favour striker Ahmed Raouf were left out of Ahly's squad for the game.
