Ahly flies to Tunisia, coach blames luck for Dakhleya loss The Red Devils have to recover quickly from the defeat against Dakhleya as they will take on Ahly Benghazi on Friday in the African Champions League
Ahly team flew to Tunisia Tuesday morning as the Egyptian giants prepare to face Ahly Benghazi in the first leg of the African Champions League Round 16. The Cairo giants are supposed to face the Libyan side on 21 March at the Zouiten Stadium in Tunisia due to security concerns in Libya. Defending champions, Ahly, will host Ahly Benghazi, which is coached by veteran Egyptian coach Tarek El-Ashri, in the second leg on 29 March. Ahly faces tough African mission On Monday, Ahly wasted a precious opportunity to advance in the Egyptian League table after losing 1-0 to Dakhleya in Group A, losing a precious moral boost ahead of the African test. Ahly, winners of the past seven national league editions, failed to build on their convincing 3-1 victory over El-Entag El-Harby last week and instead struggled again for a creative and consistent performance. Coach Mohamed Youssef said bad luck and wasted chances were behind the loss. "I can't blame my players as they did their best to change the result until the referee's final whistle but they weren't lucky enough," the rookie coach said after the match. "We are under pressure as we almost play a game every three or four days. I will do my best to urge my players to forget the defeat and prepare well for Ahly Benghazi test as we only have three days," the coach concluded. Rabia boosts defense line Defender Rami Rabia is ready to boost the defending champions, Ahly, in Friday's clash after recovering from injury. He was included in the 22-man squad announced by Youssef on Monday to travel for Tunisia. Ahly's travelling squad: Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekrami, Ahmed Adel, Mosaad Awad Defenders: Wael Gomaa, Mohamed Naguib, Saadeddin Samir, Ahmed Fathi, Sayed Moawad, Ahmed Nabil 'Manga', Ahmed Shedid, Rami Rabia, Sabry Rahil, Sherif Abdel-Fadil Midfielders: Hossam Ashour, Shehabeddin Ahmed, Mahmoud Hassan, Abdallah El-Said, Moussa Yedan Strikers: Mohamed Nagy ‘Gedo', Ahmed Raouf, El-Sayed Hamdy, Amr Gamal (Formoresports news and updates, followAhramOnline Sportson Twitter at@AO_Sportsand on Facebook atAhramOnlineSports.) http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/96955.aspx
