Egypt's Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) signed on Tuesday a micro-finance project agreement with Reefy Micro Enterprise Services Company, providing 300 million Egyptian pounds in funding to support micro enterprises nationwide. MSMEDA CEO, Basel Rahmy, explained that the cooperation with Reefy will provide financing through the company's 220 branches across all governorates to support the establishment of new micro enterprises and help existing projects develop, expand, and undergo replacement and renewal. Financing for each project can reach up to 266,000 Egyptian pounds, with around 3,000 micro enterprises expected to benefit under the agreement. Rahmy said the project supports the state's approach to promoting financial inclusion and integrating the most vulnerable groups who are not engaged with the banking sector into the formal financial system, contributing to sustainable economic development. He added that MSMEDA continues to expand financing for micro enterprises due to their importance in providing job opportunities across productive, agricultural, and service sectors, stressing the Agency's cooperation with specialised companies that can reach target groups in all governorates, villages, and rural communities.
