Minister of health: 16 people died from H1N1 in Egypt since December The minister insists that there are no fatalities among doctors because of H1N1 despite the insistence of the Doctors Syndicate that at least 4 doctors have died
Minister of Health Maha El-Rabat announced that 16 people died because of the H1N1 virus in Egypt out of 172 cases of infection since the beginning of December. Dr. El-Rabat also said in media statements early Monday that none of the deaths were contracted from the two doctors infected with the disease. "The only two infected cases recorded among the doctors are Dr. Naglaa Fathy from Qalyubia and Dr. Ahmed Shadowfy from Sharkiya,” Dr. El Rabat said. “Dr. Fathy has recovered completely while Dr. Shadowfy is in a stable condition receiving treatment at Kasr Al Ainihospital.” Dr. El-Rabat said that 172 H1N1 cases have been diagnosed since early December and that she has given orders to provide vaccinations in all hospitals in the country. The Doctors Syndicate in Cairo had insisted that at least six doctors were infected by H1N1 in Qalyubia and Mansoura and that at least four doctors died because of the infection. Dr. El-Rabat reiterated that no doctors have died from H1N1 and only two contracted it. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/93369.aspx
