Yaya Toure's year in numbers
Ahram Online provides a statistical look at the year of Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure who has been named African Player of the Year 2013
Published in Ahram Online on 10 - 01 - 2014

0: Yaya Toure won no titles as Ivory Coast were eliminated from the quarter finals in the Nations Cup 2013 while Manchester City finished runners up in the Premier League.
0.53: Yaya Toure has the best scoring average as a midfielder in the Premier League with 10 goals in 19 matches by 9 January 2014.
1: The Ivorian midfielder scored one double this year against West Brom last month that proved to be crucial for Manchester City as they claimed a 3-2 win to pile the pressure on leaders Arsenal who have 45 points one ahead of the Citizens.
2: The gifted midfielder scored twice in the CAN 2013, but Ivory Coast failed to meet the expectations as they were beaten by future champions Nigeria in the quarter finals.
3: The Ivorian international became the second player to win a straight hat-trick of the African footballer of the year after Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o in 2003, 2004 and 2005 (Eto'o won a fourth title in 2010). Toure is the second Ivorian player to claim the most prestigious prize after teammate Didier Drogba won the title twice in 2006 and 2009.
4: He scored four goals for Ivory Coast in the World Cup qualifiers campaign that helped the Elephants to a third straight final in Brazil.
10: The 10 goals scored by Toure so far in the Premier League is his best performance in a single season. He hit six during the previous season. Under coach Manuel Pellegrini he was set free in a more attacking role and developed an important aspect of his game: free kicks. He netted four of them.
13.2: The 30-year old signed a four-year contract with Manchester City in April 2013 that will reportedly earn him 13.2 million euros until June 2017.
72: He plays his 72th game for Ivory Coast playing against Senegal in the World Cup playoffs on 16 November 2013. Toure has scored 12 goals in his international career.
2018: Toure said he may boycott the World Cup 2018 in Russia as he has been victim of racist chants during a Champions League encounter against CSKA Moscow last October. He criticized the country's poor record in the matter and said the players need to be safe when they travel to Russia.
