Ahly hit with striker Meteb injury updates The Pharaohs' attacker will be out of action for other two weeks, while winger Moawad returns and Awad is to solve goalkeeping crisis
Egyptian giants Ahly have been hit with the news that injured striker Emad Meteb will be out of action for six weeks starting from Tuesday. The Pharaohs star was injured during the 2-0 win over El-Entag El-Harby on Thursday, the first matchday of the Egyptian Premier League season. After initial scans it was decided that Meteb would be out of action for four weeks, but the Cairo giants were hit with a new updates regarding the veteran attacker. "Further scans revealed that Meteb is suffering from a hamstring tear that will sideline him for six weeks," Ahly's doctor, Ehab Aly, was quoted as saying on the club's official website on Tuesday. The 30-year-old attacker had recently returned to the squad after recovering from a back surgery that had sidelined him for three months. The absence of the Pharaohs' hitman adds woes for the Red Devils; attacking line, already lacking striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher who is out on loan and star Mohamed Abou-Treika, who recently retired. Ahly winger Sayed Moawad, who has been suffering from a muscular injury, appeared at Tuesday's training session as technical staff hope he will be fit for the Smouha clash on Saturday. The Red Devils are also facing a goalkeeping crisis, as both alternate goalkeepers Mahmoud Abou El-Soud and Ahmed Adel Abdel-Menem, are suffering from different injuries. Coach Mohamed Youssef is currently preparing promising goalkeeper Mosaad Awad to back first choice Sherif Ekramy against Smouha.
