Protesters gathered in front of the Qatari embassy in Cairo on Friday to demand that the Egyptian government cut ties with Qatar due to its support of the Muslim Brotherhood and interference in Egyptian domestic politics Supporters of Defense Minister Abdel Fattah El-Sisi protested outside the embassy of Qatar in Cairo on Friday afternoon, demanding the expulsion of the Qatari ambassador from Egypt. The protesters also demanded that the Egyptian government cut diplomatic ties with Qatar for its interference in Egyptian domestic affairs and support of the Muslim Brotherhood. Kamel Gemeelak (Complete Your Favour) -- a campaign urging El-Sisi to run for president -- organized the protest, which was authorized by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Egypt's newly enacted protest law, which requires all protests to be approved by security forces. Protesters burnt the Qatari flag as well as pictures of the Qatari ruling family during the protest. A similar protest was organized by pro-Sisi demonstrators last Friday in front of the Qatari embassy, demanding that the Qatari ambassador be expelled from Egypt.
