Gharib edges closer to Egypt job
The former assistant coach of Hassan Shehata reportedly beats Hossam El-Badry, Hossam Hassan and Tarek El-Ashri to the job

The Egyptian FA (EFA) has reportedly agreed to appoint Shawki Gharib as new head coach of the Egyptian national team.
According to Ahram Sport, a board meeting was held on Tuesday, during which Gharib won the vote to succeed American tactician Bob Bradley, whose contract expired at the end of the World Cup qualifiers.
The official statement is expected to be announced on Wednesday.
The EFA said earlier that the Pharaohs' new boss will be Egyptian after Bradley failed to realise the country's long-held dream of reaching the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
The 54 year-old coach beat prominent candidates such as African Champions League winning coach Hossam El-Badry, Jordan coach and former Egyptian icon Hossam Hassan and former Haras El-Hodoud boss Tarek El-Ashri.
Gharib was an assistant to coach Hassan Shehata in Egypt's golden-era, claiming an unprecedented Nations Cup treble in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
He has been in charge of Smouha and Ismaily over the past few seasons.
The former Egypt midfielder was first known after leading Egypt's under 20s to the bronze medal of the African Youth Championship, before realising Egypt's best performance on the international stage by claiming the bronze medal in the 2001 World youth Championship.
