Taha Hussein, André Gide letters to be read at French Institute
The French Institute in Cairo is commemorating the 40th anniversary of the death of the 'dean of Arabic Literature,' Taha Hussein

The personal letters that the "dean of Arabic Literature," Taha Hussein (14 November 1889-28 October 1973) exchanged with renowned French writer André Gide will be the focus of an event today, Sunday, 17 November, at 7:00pm at the French Institute in Cairo.
The institute will display the letters and give readings from them in a ceremony to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the death of Taha Hussein, who studied in France and wrote a book on his experience there:The Voice of Paris. Hussein obtained his MA from the University of Montpellier, and his Ph.D from the Sorbonne.
The event will host writer and critic Gaber Asfour, actor Yahia El-Fakharany, novelist Youssef El-Qaeed, writer Abdel-Rashid Mahmoudy and Translator Ahmed Morsi. The French ambassador in Cairo will attend.
The event will also feature a live oud performance by Palestinian player Eissa Mourad.
