Zamalek unconcerned over venue of Egypt final
The Cairo side are 'solely focused' on their Egypt Cup final against Wadi Degla, playing down the importance of holding the match in Cairo
Published in Ahram Online on 05 - 11 - 2013

Zamalek said they were not concerned over the choice of the venue that will host the Egypt Cup final against Wadi Degla despite demanding that the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) stage Saturday's game in Cairo.
The Egypt Cup final is traditionally played in Cairo but security concerns may prompt the EFA to hold the match in the Red Sea resort of El-Gouna, where all the competition's games were held this season.
"Our team is only focused on the match itself. We are not concerned over whether it will be played in Gouna or Cairo," Zamalek assistant coach Osama Nabih said on the club's official website.
"We got used to playing in Gouna, we played all our African Champions League and Egypt Cup games there. If the match is moved to Cairo, this will not affect our preparations."
Zamalek called on the EFA to allow their fans to attend the game even if it was played in Gouna, whose tiny stadium can only host few thousand spectators.
Two key matches are likely to be played in Cairo during the next two weeks.
Ahly host South Africa's Orlando Pirates in the Champions League final at Arab Contractors Stadium on Sunday and Egypt face Ghana in the second leg of the World Cup playoff at the army-owned 30 June Stadium on 19 November.
Success-starved Zamalek will be seeking to win their first title since 2008 when they play Wadi Degla.
