Ismaily have made it to the Egypt Cup quarter-finals, eliminating Canal Wednesday at Gouna stadium in Hurghada.
Canal fought hard, ending normal time with a goalless draw, but the yellows proved their upper hand over the second division club in the penalty kicks, eventually winning 4-3.
International goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhy starred, saving the first, fifth and sixth kicks.
Ismaily, who won the trophy twice in 2000 and 1997, will be competing against Al-Nasr Monday for a place in the semis.
The quarterfinals of the competition, rejuvenated after four months of stoppage due to security troubles, will be held in Gouna behind closed doors.
Round 16 was completed, as Zamalek routed Tanta 4-0 Tuesday, before the stoppage.
All Egyptian football competitions were suspended following 30 June protests demanding the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi. It was the second time the Premier League was suspended midway, as the 2011-2012 season was also cancelled following the Port Said disaster in February 2012, when 72 Ahly fans died following clashes with rival club Masry.
No spectators have been allowed in the Egyptian stands since the Port Said tragedy, and even continental competitions were held without fans or with minimal supporters in attendance.
The Egypt Cup is the first domestic football competition following Morsi's ouster on 3 July.
Security forces have vowed to secure fans during the national team's upcoming home game in the African playoffs of the 2014 World Cup against Ghana, who surprisingly won 6-1 in the first-leg.
Cairo's military-owned Air Defence Stadium is being prepared for the 19 November game, but the Ghanaians are still raising security concerns with FIFA.
Egyptian Champions, Ahly, who skipped the Egypt Cup due to financial sponsoring issues, are demanding to play in Cairo with full-fan attendance in the Africa Champions League final against South Africa's Orlando Pirates on 9 November. The first-leg will be held in Johannesburg a week before.
Egypt Cup quarter-finals fixtures are as follows:
Thursday 24 October
Tala El-Giesh vs El-Aluminium
Wadi Degla vs ENPPI
Sunday 27 October
Zamalek vs El-Entag El-Harby
Monday 28 October
Ismaily vs Al-Nasr
According to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), all matches will be held at 14:30 CLT (GMT + 2)
