Egypt have no injury worries as they prepare for Ghana clash Egypt's doctor plays down minor injuries as the team prepare for a crucial World Cup qualifier away to Ghana next month
Egypt have no injury worries as they start preparations for an anticipated clash away to Ghana next month in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff. Influential right-back Ahmed Fathi of Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek winger Mahmoud Abdel-Razek ‘Shikabala' picked up minor injuries that would not prevent them from featuring in the vital game, Egypt's team doctor Tarek Soliman said. “Fathi strained a groin muscle but he will back in training after three days. We will not rush him back into action; we want him to fully recover because he has an African Champions League game with Ahly on 5 October and Egypt's clash against Ghana on 15 October,” Soliman said. “Shikabala has a minor tendon inflammation. He just needs to rest for one day before returning to training.” Barring any injuries during the next two weeks, Egypt will only have to do without long-term absentee Ahmed Hegazy of Fiorentina. The Pharaohs are eyeing their first World Cup appearance since 1990, while Ghana are seeking to reach the tournament for the third consecutive time, having qualified for the quarter finals in their last appearance in 2010.
