Cairo's Tahrir Square erupts into wild celebration following news that President Mohamed Morsi has been toppled after one year in power.
The news came in a statement made by Defence Minister Abdel Fattah El-Sisi after four days of mass nationwide protests against Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood, from which he hails.
The head of the constitutional court will take over for an interim period until elections can be held.
