Ismaily sack coach Al-Menyawi despite Confederation Cup victory
Sabri Al-Menyawi is shown the door by Ismaily, one day after they scraped through into the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16

Ismaily have dismissed coach Sabri Al-Menyawi following the team's uninspiring display in a CAF Confederation Cup game against Sudan's Ahli Shandi, the club said on Saturday.
A lacklustre Ismaily side beat Ahli Shandi 4-3 on penalties to advance to the competition's round of 16 following a 0-0 aggregate draw on Friday.
However, they failed to muster a single effort on goal and Ahli Shandi were even close to snatching a win the second half in a game littered by too many mis-placed passes.
"The club's board of directors has decided to bring Mohamed Wahba as the first team coach, succeeding Sabri Al-Menyawi," Ismaily said on their official website.
"Wahba had previously worked as an assistant to former Ismaily coach Mahmoud Gaber ... he was also an assistant to Hassan Shehata during his spell in the Arab Gulf region."
Ismaily, who are suffering from persistent financial problems, lie second in Group B of the Egyptian Premier League's new format. They have 23 points, seven behind leaders Zamalek with six matches remaining.
The top two in each group will advance to the final round, where a mini-league with only home fixtures will be held to determine the champion.
Ismaily have not won any trophy since their 2002 Egyptian Premier League triumph.
