Former Zamalek coaches the Hassan twins flirt with Ahly Hossam Hassan and his brother Ibrahim Hassan have shown interest in moving to Ahly when the current coach leaves
Maqassa manager Hossam Hassan has expressed an interest in coaching Egyptian champions Ahly, if current coach Hossam El-Badry's stay is not extended. "It's normal that I coach Ahly. It's been one of my dreams since I started playing in Ahly when I was only 13 years old," the 46-year-old Hossam Hassan told an Egyptian television programme. The former Egypt, Ahly and Zamalek striker, who was once the world's most capped player, has previously coached Zamalek, Ismaily and Masry, showing technical success but stirring controversy with his exaggerated enthusiasm and antics. "Coaching the best club in Egypt and Africa is our duty, and we will be there if they need us," Hassan added, referring to his twin and assistant Ibrahim Hassan, who was an international left back and has worked with his brother during his coaching spells. El-Badry is reportedly leaving end of the season. The Red Devils currently lead Group A in the Egyptian Premier League. They will take on Smouha Tuesday. Ahly, who won last year's Champions League title under El-Badry, beating Tunisian side Esperance in the final, are eyeing a record-extending eighth triumph in Africa's elite club competition. They will play a last-16 home game against Bizertin of Tunisia on 4 May after a goalless draw in the first leg.
