Egypt's Ismaily, ENPPI settle for 0-0 draws in Confederation Cup The two Egyptian representatives in the African Confederation Cup held to goalless draws in the first-leg of the competition's round of 16 on Friday
Egyptian sides Ismaily and ENPPI failed to take first-leg advantages in the African Confederation Cup on Friday after being held to draws by Sudan's Ahli Shandi and South Africa's Supersport respectively. Ismaily, who drew 0-0 in Sudan, will host Ahli Shandi in the second leg on 3 May behind closed doors after Egyptian authorities imposed an indefinite crowd ban following recent fan troubles. ENPPI were kept at bay by Supersport United at home, wasting a penalty in stoppage time to settle for a goalless draw that will make their task difficult when they play the second leg in South Africa on 4 May. The Confederation Cup has eluded Egyptian clubs since it was introduced in 2004 by merging the African Cup Winners' Cup and the CAF Cup in a single competition. Elsewhere, Club Sportif Sfaxien of Tunisia defeated Congolese side Diables Noirs 3-1 in Tunisia and USM d'Alger of Algeria were held to goalless draw by Gabon's Union Sportive Bitam.
