Egypt sees 12% more tourists in February: Statistics agency
Number of tourists visiting Egypt in February 2013 grew 12 percent over corresponding month one year earlier, official statistics agency CAPMAS reveals

The number of tourists visiting Egypt in February of this year grew 12 percent over the corresponding month one year earlier, new data from Egypt's official statistics agency CAPMAS showed on Monday.
A total of 845,000 tourists visited Egypt in February 2013 – slightly higher than the 753,000 who visited Egypt in February 2012 but still significantly lower than the 1 million who came in February 2010.
Unofficially, the tourism ministry estimates that the number of tourists as of March 2013 has grown by 22 percent year on year.
This puts average growth of tourist numbers in the first quarter of 2013 at around 15 percent.
The Egyptian tourism sector was dealt a massive blow following the 2011 popular uprising that ousted former president Hosni Mubarak.
More than two years later, the sector appears unable to achieve full recovery amid ongoing political instability.
Western Europe provided the most tourists in February, followed by Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
The average length of tourist stays, however, grew to 14.8 nights in February 2013 as compared to 8.3 nights in February 2012 and 9.7 nights in February 2010.
In 2012, Egypt saw a 17-percent rise in tourist numbers and a 13 percent rise in tourism revenue. Tourist numbers, however, are 22 percent lower than in 2010, generating some 25 percent less revenue.
