Egypt seek to arrange friendly before World Cup qualifiers Egypt are looking to play a friendly game against an African team before meeting Zimbabwe and Mozambique in the World Cup qualifiers in June
Egypt's national team are seeking to arrange a friendly game in early June before meeting Zimbabwe and Mozambique in the World Cup qualifiers, the national team's executive director Samir Adly said on Saturday. The Pharaohs will play two away games in Group G of the qualifiers - on 9 June against Zimbabwe and 16 June against Mozambique. "Coach Bob Bradley asked us to arrange a friendly match with an African team on 4 June, two days before we travel to Zimbabwe," Adly told Ahram Sport. Egypt, who have not qualified for the World Cup since 1990, are bidding for a spot at the 2014 finals in Brazil. They defeated Zimbabwe 2-1 on 26 March. Egypt, the winners of a record of seven African Nations Cups, are leading Group G, five points clear of second-placed Guinea while Mozambique lie third on two points, one ahead of bottom side Zimbabwe.
