The Danish Intelligence Service has said the country is still threatened by extremist groups seven years after caricatures of the Prophet Mohamed sparked outrage across the Islamic world. A report published in Copenhagen on Wednesday said many Islamic terrorist groups still wanted to attack Denmark due to the caricatures. In September 2005, twelve caricatures of the Prophet Mohamed were published by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, sparking massive protests in Muslim countries in early 2006that left more than 150 dead. The artist responsible for the caricatures, Kurt Westergaard, survived an assassination attempt in 2010 at his home in Aarhus. While the Danish authorities blocked an attack on the administration of Jyllands-Posten the very same year. Muslim extremist groups do not think Denmark has been punished enough for the cartoons, the report said. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/62105.aspx
