Zimbabwe's Football Association (ZIFA) announced Monday that the national team may withdraw from the 2014 World Cup qualifiers due to current financial problems.
The Warriors are scheduled to face Egypt on 22 March in Group G of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
"It's difficult to save money for the national football team to travel to Cairo to face Egypt," the ZIFA vice-president Ndumiso Gumede said on Monday.
"We are close to withdrawing from the tournament," he added.
"If we decided to continue in the qualifiers, it will cost us $100,000, but when we withdraw, we will only pay $50,000 only as a fine for the CAF," the vice-president concluded.
By January 2009, Zimbabwe were churning out bills worth 100 trillion Zimbabwean dollars, which were soon so worthless they could not buy a loaf of bread, after which the country began using the US dollar as their currency.
Zimbabwe are in third place in Group G with one point, five behind group leaders Egypt, while Guinea are second with three points. Mozambique are remain at the bottom with one point.
