Egypt TV channels cancel planned Wednesday strike to cover clashes
TV channels reverse decision to strike Wednesday, resume transmission to cover ongoing clashes outside presidential palace in Cairo

Privately-owned channels that planned to cease transmission from 6pm to 12am on Wednesday to object to clauses in the draft constitution related to press freedoms have resumed broadcasting in order to cover ongoing developments taking place at Egypt's presidential palace in Cairo.
The channels that participated in the blackout are ONTV, ONTV Live, Dream TV, Dream TV 2, Al-Hayat Network and the CBC network.
ONTV and ONTV Live announced on Wednesday that they would not join the planned partial strike of privately owned television channels.
The announcement came after an attack by President Mohamed Morsi's supporters on a sit-in by protesters opposed to the president's constitutional declaration and draft constitution.
"Reem Magued and I will be presenting special coverage tonight on ONTV, with all our respect to the channels that will blacken their screen tonight," Said Yosri Fouda, prominent television host on ONTV, declared via Twitter.
Reporters from ONTV and ONTV Live Ahmed Khair and Karim Fareed were reportedly assaulted by Morsi supporters in the clashes. Channel administrators have already announced that the channel was being blocked.
