Ahly's Moawad still doubtful for African final Red Castle keep fingers crossed that injured left-winger Sayed Moawad will be fit to take part in upcoming Champions League final against Esperance
Ahly's injured left-winger Sayed Moawad is racing against the clock to reach the second leg of the CAF Champions League final against Esperance of Tunisia, set to take place in Rades on 17 November. "Moawad underwent scans on his heel after Thursday's morning training session and has continued his rehabilitation programme, but still feels some pain," the Red Castle stated on their official website. The 33-year-old international player, who sustained the injury during a friendly match with Smouha six weeks ago, is hoping to make a difference in the upcoming away final, after the Cairo giants were held by a 1-1 home draw last Sunday. "Moawad is recovering from his injury and his pains aren't worth worrying about as it's his first running day," Ahly doctor Ehab Ali said. Six-time African Champions League winners, Ahly snatched the 2006 title when they defeated Tunisian Club Sportif Sfaxien 1-0 in Tunisia during the second leg of tournament finals. The result of the first leg, played in Egypt, was also a 1-1 draw. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at@AO Sportsand on Facebook atAhramOnlineSports)
