Ahly key player promises Egypt the African title Midfielder Abdullah El-Said claims the Cairo Giants can still win the CAF Champions League next week despite disappointing 1-1 draw with Tunisia's Esperance on Sunday
Ahly midfielder Abdullah El-Said revealed that he and his team mates will do their best to win the CAF Champions league title when they face Esperance de Tunis in the second leg of the championship on 17 November. The Cairo giants were held to a 1-1 draw with Esperance during the first leg, Sunday. "We can beat Esperance in Tunisia and snatch the Champions league title," Ahly's El-Said told reporters after the game. "We still have the chance to get it." A goal by substitute El-Sayed Hamdi in the remaining three minutes salvaged a 1-1 home draw with title holders Esperance, keeping alive Ahly's hopes of winning the African Champions League. However, the Cairo giants have to defeat the Tunisian team to win the cup, while a goalless draw is enough for the Tunisian side. "Ahly players always play to win and we can repeat the history of the 2006 edition," El-Said added. Ahly, six-time African Champions League winners, snatched the 2006 title when they defeated Tunisian Club Sportif Sfaxien 1-0 in Tunisia during the second leg of the tournament finals. The first leg result was also a 1-1 draw in Egypt. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at@AO Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports)
