Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr said during his ongoing visit to Algeria that he agrees with his Algerian counterpart Mourad Medelci on the importance of resolving the ongoing Syrian conflict peacefully. Amr told Algeria's official news agency that his talks with Medlci focused on the importance of resolving the Syrian conflict within an Arab/regional framework, as well as the importance of uniting the Syrian opposition. Amr is among the delegation accompanying Prime Minister Hisham Qandil on his three-day visit to Algeria, which started on Sunday. The Syrian uprising began in March 2011, a few weeks after Egypt's president Hosni Mubarak was toppled through the 25 January popular uprising. The estimated death toll of repressing the Syrian uprising has reached tens of thousands, with hundreds of thousands of people displaced.
