Ahly pulled a miracle, but will need fan support in the final: Coach Coach El-Badry, elated his players pulled the 'miracle' of qualifying for the CAF final, reveals star midfielder Abu-Treika's status for the upcoming face-off with Esperance
Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry commended his team after Sunday's 1-0 victory over Nigerian guests Sunshine Stars in the semifinal of the CAF Champions League. "My team accomplished a miracle by qualifying in the continental final considering the hard circumstances Egyptian football is experiencing," the 52-year-old tactician said in the post-match press conference. Forward Mohamed "Gedo" Nagy scored for wasteful Ahly, lifting them to a 4-3 aggregate victory after holding them to a thrilling 3-3 first-leg draw in Nigeria. "Despite football stoppage and no fans in the stands, the team made the miracle possible," the Cairo giant's coach added. Continental games are held behind closed doors and the Egyptian Premier League faces an uncertain future since it was frozen in February in the wake of the Port Said stadium disaster that saw the death of 72 Ahly fans following clashes with rival fans Masry. "The final will not be easy but I trust my team's abilities. They are capable of winning," El-Badry insisted. Title holders Esperance of Tunisia booked their ticket to the final after eliminating powerful Mazembe of Dr. Congo. Fans' attendance demanded, Abou-Treika is back ## El-Badry demanded fans attend the final and also revealed that star midfielder Mohamed Abou-Treika is no longer suspended. "It will be a hard game so we need support from security authorities to allow fans to attend the final," El-Badry said adding "I don't like to talk about Abou-Treika's issue, but he will be in the final." Abou-Treika was suspended for not showing up to the Egypt Super Cup game. He was sticking to his word and supporting Ahly die-hard fans who tried to ensure the death of their fellow fans in the Port Said stadium disaster was not swept under the rug by stopping the lucrative football season. The first leg of the final will be held on 4 November in Cairo stadium and Ahly board will negotiate with security authorities to allow fans to attend. The away game is scheduled for 17 November in Tunisia.
