Ivory Coast's Koné on target as Wigan beats Southampton 2-0 in EPL The Ivory Coast striker helps Wigan to get the upper hand of the game against Southampton in the second matchday of the English Premier League on Saturday
Ivorian Arouna Kone and Franco Di Santo scored in the second half to give Wigan a 2-0 victory at Southampton on Saturday and leave the promoted team winless after two rounds of the Premier League. Di Santo struck in the 51st minute at St. Mary's Stadium, shooting fiercely into the net after being set up by Shaun Maloney. Kone made the match safe in the 89th after dispossessing center back Jose Fonte and running nearly half the length of the pitch before blasting the ball past goalkeeper Kelvin Davis. Southampton and Aston Villa are the only teams to be on zero points this season after having played two matches. Wigan now has a win and a loss. It was Southampton's first home Premier League match in seven years. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports)
