Elmohamady's Sunderland beat Wigan to end winless run Egyptian wing-back Ahmed Elmohamady plays full 90 minutes as Sunderland defeat Wigan in the Premier League
Ahmed Elmohamady's Sunderland ended a nine-match winless streak after coming from behind to earn a 4-2 victory over Wigan Athletic in the English Premier League on Saturday. French-born Senegalese midfielder Mohamed Diame gave Wigan the lead in the 52nd minute but Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan brought Sunderland level three minutes later. Midfielder Jordan Henderson put Sunderland ahead six minutes past the hour mark and Benin midfielder Stephane Sessegnon converted a penalty in the 73rd minute to extend the gap. Henderson scored his second of the night shortly after to make it 4-1 before Wigan scored a consolation through Franco Di Santo in stoppage time. Egyptian right wing-back Elmohamady played the full game to help Sunderland to a convincing win. The Black Cats eased their relegation worries after suffering a dip in form recently. They now lie 10th in the 20-team table with 41 points, seven clear of the danger zone.
