Chelsea opened its Premier League campaign with a 2-0 away victory over Wigan Sunday, with Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard scoring inside the first seven minutes. Eden Hazard, making his league debut for Chelsea, was instrumental in both goals at the DW Stadium. The Belgium international played the ball to Ivanovic in the second minute for the opening goal before being fouled for Lampard's penalty by Wigan debutant Ivan Ramis. Ramis made up for his error in the second half, clearing a Fernando Torres chip off the line as Chelsea looked to increase its lead. Brazilian attacking midfielder Oscar, who came off the bench to make his first Chelsea appearance, also came close. Wigan's Jordi Gomez missed several chances in the second half as Roberto Di Matteo's side took all three points.
