Egypt FA board resigns following FIFA warning
EFA's board of directors resigns after warning from FIFA that country could be suspended from international football due to 'government interference'

The Egyptian Football Association's new interim board resigned on Sunday after FIFA warned that Egypt could be suspended from international football due to government interference.
Egypt's newly appointed sports minister, El-Amry Farouq, prompted the world football body to issue its warning by sacking Anwar Saleh, who had been serving as caretaker EFA chairman.
Farouq brought in former Ahly keeper Essam Abdel-Moneim as a temporary replacement until new elections are held within two months. FIFA regulations prohibit any government interference in football affairs.
FIFA reportedly set a deadline – 6pm Sunday – for Egypt to reverse the decision to sack Saleh.
Saleh, however, has rejected Farouq's offer to reinstate him as EFA chairman, leading the sports minister to appoint Amer Hussein, head of the association's competition committee, in his stead until new elections are conducted.
FIFA executive committee member Hani Abou-Reida is currently the frontrunner to become the new EFA chairman.
