Hilal, Djoliba, Wydad advance in Confed Cup as holders MAZ bow out
Maghreb de Fez and Club Africain have crashed out in a night to forget
Published in Ahram Online on 14 - 07 - 2012

Holders Maghreb de Fez (MAZ) had a dramatic night as they lost 2-0 against Congolese side AC Leopards and finished the game with only seven men on the pitch.
The Moroccans had a 1-0 home win two weeks ago but things took an awkward twist on Saturday as Rachid Dahmani, Omar Ennamasoui, Said Hamouni and Younes Lyousfi were sent off.
Diaboli, 40, and Diallo, 110, scored for the Leopards to put them in the group stage.
MAZ made the trip with only 13 players after releasing many players at the end of the season to reshuffle their squad.
Moroccan Wydad Casablanca were held to a scoreless draw at home but they reached the last eight courtesy to their 1-0 away win a couple of weeks ago.
Sudanese Hilal completed the double over Cercle Olympique de Bamako from Mali claiming a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Mudather El-Tayeb 'Karika' to go through on a 3-0 aggregate.
This is while Malian side Djoliba survived the Tunisian scare as they had to go through penalties after Club Africain canceled their home lead with a 2-0 win in regular time. Djoliba won the shootout 4-3.
