Fiorentina deny Chamakh interest, close on Al-Hamdaoui Italian side Fiorentina say they are not interested in signing Arsenal's Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh but hope to sign striker Mounir Al-Hamdaoui
Fiorentina have rubbished reports linking them with Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh, saying they are on the verge of signing his compatriot Mounir Al-Hamdaoui. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was quoted by British media as saying that Fiorentina have made an offer to sign Chamakh, who has played a bit-part role since joining the Gunners in the summer of 2010. "Have we made an offer for Chamakh? We have not made one because he earns 3million euros (per season),” Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. Prade said the Italian side are close to signing Ajax's Moroccan striker Mounir Al-Hamdaoui. "We hope to complete Al-Hamdaoui's transfer on Wednesday. He is a striker that our coach (Vincenzo Montella), likes a lot,” he added. Al-Hamdaoui, who joined Ajax in the summer of 2010, did not make an appearance last season after falling out with coach Frank de Boer.
