Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea met with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany on Tuesday to discuss the recent updates on the preparations for Egypt's participation in Expo Dubai 2020, which is scheduled on 1 October and will last over six months.
Minister Gamea stated that Egypt will be represented as a marketable investment destination in the MENA region based on the mega national projects it executes, particularly in the infrastructure field, and the procedures it applies to attract foreign investments to the domestic market.
Gamea also said that Egypt's booth in Expo Dubai is located in the opportunities zone, next to the UAE booth, which is the best zone in the expo and reflects the prominence that the country has.
"Egypt's booth is expected to witness 106 events, including workshops, discussion panels, business meetings, and cultural events. Moreover, it will include mounting nine specialised exhibitions in the fields of antiquities, education, and real-estate investment, in addition to holding the 'Torathna' ('Our Heritage') Expo. Besides that, entertainment events are expected to be held to attract more visitors," Gamea explained.
On his side, El-Anany said that the pictures, backgrounds, and murals that will be presented in Expo Dubai will show the efforts made by ancient Egyptians in the fields of construction, industry, and crafts, and will reflect the Egyptian identity as well.
Expo Dubai was originally scheduled from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, however, in response to the pandemic outbreak, it was rescheduled to go from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.
The anticipated Expo Dubai 2020 event is expected to experience the participation of all African countries, which is the first time they have convened in an expo in the past 170 years.
190 countries are expected to participate in the event.
