Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi hints at Zamalek departure
Published in Ahram Online on 09 - 06 - 2021

Zamalek's Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi described his stint at Zamalek as the most "important" in his life, increasing doubts about his fate with the club.
The 29-year-old will be out of contract in the end of June and he is yet to renew his contract with the club, with several reports suggesting a move to the Qatari league during the summer transfer window.
Sassi is currently in international duty with Tunisia, where he played against DR Congo in a friendly match before sustaining a muscle injury that rendered him unavailable for ten days
"I am proud of my stint with the club which is the most important in my life," Ferjani Sassi tweeted on Wednesday.
"God Knows that I did my best with Zamalek and the clubs' supporters will remain my real support in all fronts.''
"I will clarify soon all the facts."
The Tunisian international joined Zamalek in the summer of 2018 after signing a three-year contract with club.
He made a string of strong displays with the club, becoming one of the team's biggest stars.
The talented midfielder played 102 games with Zamalek, scoring 16 goals.
Zamalek has been involved in months-long negotiations with Sassi over a new deal but to no avail, leaving the door open for his departure this summer after the end of his current contract.
On Tuesday Zamalek president Hussein Labib said that the club is ready to renew the contract of the Tunisian player, adding that he is waiting for Sassi to end his international duty with Tunisia.
