Sisi reiterates Egypt's steadfast stance on GERD in meeting with Senegalese president

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said Wednesday Egypt's stance is steadfast as regards the need to reach a binding and comprehensive legal agreement on the filling and operation of the Ethiopian Dam.
During a meeting here with Senegalese President Macky Sall in Paris, the two presidents agreed on the need to continue to coordinate bilaterally in order to resolve the issue and avoid its negative impact on security and stability of the entire region, Presidency Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
El-Sisi is on a visit to France upon an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to take part in the Paris Conference to support the Sudanese transition and a summit on financing African economies.
The Egyptian president praised close relations between the two countries especially that Senegal is an important country in West Africa, the spokesman added.
Egypt is ready to enhance bilateral cooperation in the various fields particularly trade and investment, developing the infrastructure and providing technical support and training, El-Sisi added.
The Senegalese president hailed the continued development in bilateral relations and expressed deep appreciation of Egypt and the Egyptian people and leadership.
Egypt plays key role in reaching comprehensive development and protecting peace and security in Africa, Macky Sall said.
The two leaders tackled a number of African files in light of Senegal's chairmanship of the African Union in 2022, he said, adding that they have agreed to continue with coordination and consultation and coordination on the latest developments in these files.
