Sisi gives directives to provide full support to Libya
Published in Ahram Online on 22 - 04 - 2021

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi gave directives on Thursday to provide Egyptian assistance to support Libya in all fields to implement the country's political roadmap until the elections in December, the Egyptian presidency stated.
El-Sisi gave his directives, which aim to improve Libya's economic conditions and achieve security and stability, while reviewing the outcome of a recent visit to Libya by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Madbouly said the visit was a clear message of Egypt's strong support for the unity and stability of Libyan territories and efforts to end tensions there.
The PM briefed the president on the different issues he discussed with Libyan officials, at the top of which was the re-opening of the Egyptian diplomatic missions in Tripoli and Benghazi as soon as possible, in addition to the request of Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh to allow the return of Egyptian workers in the nearest time.
According to Madbouly, Dbeibeh asked for transportation to be facilitated between the two countries and the luring of Egyptian companies, especially in the fields of electricity, infrastructure, housing and transportation, in order to implement the various projects that will be launched in Libya.
The prime minister discussed with El-Sisi the projects to be implemented in Libya in the upcoming period as well as the role of Egyptian companies in the re-construction of Libya.
Madbouly also said that an agreement was reached with Libyan officials to resume meetings of the joint high Egyptian-Libyan committee in the upcoming weeks for the first time since their suspension in 2009.
Accompanied by a delegation of 11 Egyptian ministers, Madbouly arrived in the Libyan capital Tripoli earlier on Tuesday in the first such visit by senior Egyptian officials to the conflict-torn country since it was plunged into chaos following the ouster of president Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
