Maryam Saleh launches after a long independent careerher first album, entitled 'I Don't Sing,' Thursday in a concert including several other musicians onstage at El-Geneina Theatre. Maryam is known for her covers of Sheikh Imam's resistance songs, such as her blends of reggae and acoustic sounds for his iconic Nixon Baba track. She has been singing and acting since she was seven years old. The concert launching the album will include the Theatre Workshop Group, the Tamyye Theatre Group, Amany, Zeid Hemdan (Lebanon), Habayebna Band, Dina El-Wadidi and Baraka Band (which Maryam founded). Eka3 produces Maryam's album with their slogan 'Reshaping Arabic Music.' Eka3 fosters a network of Arab artists giving independent musicians support to get heard. Their network also includes Lebanese Mashrou' Leila, Syrian Tanjaret Daght (Pressure Pot) and the Egyptian The Choir Project. Listen to Maryam's music here.
