Ahly football delegation is currently stuck in Mali due to military clashes sparked Monday in a bid to wrest back control of the capital Bamako after a coup.
The Egyptian champions were playing their first leg in the CAF Champions League Sunday against Stade Malian in which they were defeated 1-0.
“All of the team players and the technical staff members are ok but we keep hearing continues gunfire sounds around the hotel we are staying in in t ,” Goalkeepers goal Ahmed Nagy told the club's official TV channel.
The Cairo-based club chairman Hassan Hamdy announced that he is in contact with the football team at the moment and he is trying to send a private plane to transmit them back to Egypt.
