Thurs 28, live broadcast from 11am, Cairo time on the institute Facebook page and on the “Night of Ideas” website, with subtitles in French or English: The French Institute in Egypt is participating in partnership with the CEDEJ in the 6th edition of the annual “Night of Ideas” meeting organised by the French Institute in Paris which will be held on 28 January, around the theme “Close”.
As the global health crisis limits gatherings and international mobility of people, the institute is offering an unprecedented digital experience, in the form of a 24-hour global WebTV broadcast, which will cross time zones and bring together stakeholders from the whole world.
The French Institute of Egypt, in partnership with the CEDEJ, will participate in this event in two stages and by offering several filmed speeches by intellectuals and creators who will address this theme from the angles of the city, culture and creation.
On 28 January, the IFE will offer as part of the 24-hour Live programme: Interview on the Nile with researcher Caroline Barbary, about Egyptian youth at 7:05 pm, Urban walks with town planner Kareem Ibrahim at 7:25 pm, a great interview with the poet Iman Mersal and the journalist Lina Atallah at11:05pm, a dialogue between two playwrights, Ahmed El-Attar (Egypt) and Osama Halal (Syria) at 12:05pm.
From 1 February, the IFE will offer a full week of programming on this theme by offering three new interviews with novelist Maylis de Kerangal, essayist Tiphaine Samoyault and sociologist Agnès Deboulet and rebroadcasting the first three.

Italian Cultural Institute

The Italian Institute continues the posts of videos in Arabic with translations from the Divine Comedy, Dante Alighieri's masterpiece, to bring the Arab-speaking public closer to the work of the supreme poet. Videos are directed by Giabluca Barbadori, with the special participation of Ashraf Farouk, Amir Salaheddin, Sherine Hegazy, and Sara El Mokadem.
The Institute offers daily multimedia content in several categories representative of the best of the Italian cultural industries, including literature, language, art, cinema, and archeology. As for the teaching of the Italian language, the Institute continues to provide its students at home with courses covering all levels of the language taught.
“Parla come mangi” (Speak as you Eat) is the first video series created by IIC Cairo and dedicated to students of the Italian language which was edited by the institute's professors of the Italian language courses, which search and even display various expressions of the vernacular Italian language, which is often similar to the Egyptian one, in addition to gestures, sayings and lifestyles.
