The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have released the schedule of the 2020-21 Egyptian Premier League new season, set to start on 11 December. The Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek will be played on 28 December. The EFA also announced that new Premier League season will end in August 2021, adding there will be no stoppage during the summer Olympic Games in Tokyo in July. "Teams will play every three days in a congested schedule," Mazen Marzouk, the head of the EFA's competitions committee, said. "No matches will be rescheduled for whatever reason; and this will apply to all clubs no matter who," Marzouk stressed. The 2019-20 season was recently completed in a record one-year-plus, due to a four-month stoppage caused by the outset of the coronavirus pandemic. The Egyptian Premier League title holders, Ahly, will start their mission in defending their title by facing Maqassa on Sunday, 13 December, a day after last season's runners-up, Zamalek, face Arab Contractors.
