Egypt's Ahly were drawn Thursday to face Aluminum club while Zamalek will face Olympic club in round 32 of the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced. The association has separated the Cairo teams on their roads to the final, as Zamalek hold the title while Ahly won last season's Premier League. "Round 16 of the tournament is tentatively set for the start of February, but final scheduling will be determined by the Egyptian national team's participation In the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations [from 14 January to 5 February]," the EFA Competitions Committee Amer Hussein said during the draw ceremony. Hussein also hinted that the Cairo showdown between Ahly and Zamalek, scheduled for 29 December on the final match-day of the first round, could be rescheduled due to an ongoing debate over scheduling with Egypt's national team coach Hector Cuper, who hopes to begin a training camp for the Africa Cup 1 January. Ahly are the Egypt Cup record holders with 35 trophies, ten more than rivals Zamalek. Ittihad of Alexandria and Tersana have won the cup six times. Arab Contractors have clinched three, while Ismaily and late comers ENPPI and Haras El-Hodoud have all won it twice.
