The referee robbed us against Egypt, says Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi criticises the referee after Nigeria lost to Egypt in Thursday's friendly game in Dubai
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi believes his side were undone by poor refereeing during their 3-2 friendly defeat by Egypt in Dubai on Thursday. The Pharaohs claimed a last-gasp victory over a second-string Nigerian side, thanks to goal from striker Ahmed Hassan Mekki after a neat build-up play involving Ahmed Elmohamady and Emad Meteb. Keshi said the goal should have been disallowed for offside. “The referee if he has a conscience should know that he robbed us,” the 50-year-old was quoted as saying by Kickoff.com on Friday. “We had a penalty that was not given and the last goals looked questionable but like I told you I expected this type of officiating. “Pick yourself up and let's get set for the next round of game," he told Nigerian players. Both sides are preparing for the African Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifying campaigns. Egypt are holding successive training camps in the Arab Gulf region to make up for lack of domestic action after the Egyptian Premier League was cancelled in the wake of the Port Said disaster.
