Egyptian giants Zamalek are starting their preparations Friday for their first leg in round 16 of the CAF Champions League against Morocco's Maghreb Fez on 28 April. “It won't be an easy round as the Moroccan side is so powerful but we are ready,” Zamalek assistant coach Ismail Yussef told Ahram Online. The 2011 CAF Confederation Cup winners, Fez, qualified after winning Guinean side Horoya 4-1 on aggregate as the first-leg ended in a 1-1 draw. Zamalek coach Hassan Shehata will have to do without his goalkeeper Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed who is suspended for being shown the second yellow card. “The technical staff trust the abilities of our good substitute keeper Mahmoud Abdel-Rehim ‘Genesh'. He is able to guard the White net,” Yussef insisted. While veteran striker Zakiwill be misseddue to aperforated eardrum injury, star midfielder Mahmoud Abdel-Razik ‘Shikabala'who was on a vacation for personal issues will return back to trainings Friday. Four of the Whites key players, defenders Mahmoud Fathallah and Mohamed Abdel-Shafi and midfielders Ibrahim Salah and Ahmed Hassan, will join the team next Tuesday when they return from the UAE. They are on national duty with the Pharaohs and the former Egypt coach, Shehata agreed with the current coach American Bob Bradley that they will not stay till the end of the camp. Despite their 2-1 defeat on Sunday, the Cairo-based club won their ticket to the CAF Champions League round of 16 after qualifying on the away goal rule as the first leg ended with a goalless draw.
