Because of Bremen I am a Bundesliga player: Egypt's Zidan
Zidan vows to fight today against former club and difficult opponent Werder Bremen
Published in Ahram Online on 31 - 03 - 2012

A few hours ahead of tonight's Mainz V Werder Bremen clash, Mohamed Zidan (Mainz's striker) credits his top-flight career to his stint with Werder Breman.
Bremen had acquired the services of the Pharaohs star, Zidan, in 2005 from Danish club Midtjylland. The Egyptian striker is currently on a six-month loan with Mainz from Germany's Borussia Dortmund, of the uber-competitive Bundesliga league.
Saturday's visit with Mainz to the Weser stadium will be a golden chance for Zidan to reminisce about the old times with Bremen when he scored three goals throughout 15 league appearances.
“The time in Bremen was beautiful. SV Werder Bremen is what made me a Bundesliga player,” Zidan told Bremen's official website.
“I could then play with top players like Miroslav Klose, Diego and Johan Micoud. I have learned a lot from them,” he added.
The 30-year-old forward, who joined Mainz in January, scored six goals in consecutive matches, but failed to find the net in Mainz's last two games in the Bundesliga.
Zidan, who twice clinched the African Cup of Nations title, admits that playing Bremen will not be an easy mission, but he vows to fight to lead his team to a positive result.
“I'll try to make a good game. We will do everything to get a good result, even though we know we hit upon a very strong opponent,” concluded Zidan.
