Nile Basin Tournament: Harambee Stars focused on Egypt Kenya's coach, Zedekiah Otieno, prepares his team ‘to climb the Pharoahs' mountain' in Friday's Nile Basin semi-final
The Kenyan national team rejected a tour of Cairo organized by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to concentrate on their preparations for Friday's semi-final against African Champions Egypt. Instead of the tour, The Harambee Stars held a serious training session in Cairo on Wednesday, a day after they played a friendly against Egypt Insurance club which ended in a goalless draw. “Playing against an Egyptian team was a very useful experience before we meet Egypt,” Otieno told the EFA website. Kenya's players are looking forward to their match against the winners of three successive African Cups with some team members saying they “dream of Abou-Treika.” "When you play a well polished side like Egypt, you are just grateful for the experience your players can get from the match. We will not be under pressure to win." Otieno told The Standard newspaper. Kenya had a tough ride through the group stage of Nile Basin tournament defeating Sudan 1-0 on the opening day before they losing to group B leaders DR Congo 1-0.
