Voter turnout in the ten southern Sudanese cities hit 20 per cent on the first day of Sudan's referendum while in the northern cities figures reached 14 per cent, sources in the Southern Sudan Referendum for Self-determination Committee told Ahram Online. The sources added that the initial results are expected to be announced on 2 February while the final results will be declared between 7 and 14 February.
