Egyptian midfielder Wahid tries out for Wolfsburg Ismaily's talented young player Mahmoud Wahid begins trial period with VFL Wolfsburg in advance of possible move this summer
Ismaily midfielder Mahmoud Wahid has begun a trial period with Bundesliga outfit VFL Wolfsburg in advance of a likely summer move. "I left Ismaily to start my career in Europe away from the Egyptian league. I will sign a contract with the German club soon," Wahid told MENA Thursday. Wahid was raised in Ismaily and was promoted to the club's senior squad at the beginning of the season – at the age of 18 – under former coach Hossam Hassan. The Egypt U-20 player has not signed a formal contract with Ismaily in order to join Wolfsburg as a free agent. With 25 points between them and leaders BV Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg is currently 13th of the German top flight league with 27 points, same as Mainz – which also boasts an Egyptian, striker Mohamed Zidan, among its players.
