The First International Conference for African Studies hosted by Egypt's Helwan University took place last week, generating 16 recommendations to implement African visions of development. The three-day conference, held under the slogan "Sustainable Development for Africa We Want,” concluded on Wednesday with recommendations including the necessity of cooperation and work to deepen African culture and identity in the fields of art and literature, developing the continent by planning and building cities, establishing an information base for technical activities, and establishing a museum for African arts in Egypt's new capital. Other recommendations include translating important African books into Arabic, offering scholarships for students coming from African countries, conducting objective studies on digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and combined efforts to eliminate endemic diseases, especially hepatitis C. The conference, held under the auspices of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and the president of Helwan University Majed Negm, marked the inauguration of the Centre for African Studies and Research Cooperation at Helwan University.
